143. Week of First Sunday after Easter - Tuesday
This was the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples
This was the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He had risen from the dead.   John 21:14
After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, in Galilee. And this is how He showed Himself. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, and Nathanael, and the brothers James and John, and two other of His disciples. Simon Peter said to them: "I'm going fishing." They said to him: "We'll also go with you." They went and boarded a boat immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning came, Jesus stood on the shore; however the disciples did not know that it was Him. Then Jesus said to them: "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him: "No." And He said to them: "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you shall find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. Therefore John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, said to Peter: "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, (for he had removed it) and plunged into the sea. But the other disciples came in the little boat, (for they were not far from the land, but about 200 cubits off,) dragging the net with fish. Then as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it and bread. Jesus said to them: "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught." Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of large fish, 153; and though there were so many, yet the net was not broken. Jesus said to them: "Come and eat." And none of the disciples dared ask Him: Who are you? knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then came, and took the bread, and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.- This is the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His Apostles after He had risen from the dead. And these are the men who testify about the resurrection of Jesus in their writings, that we might believe. They testify what they themselves have seen. And the Holy Spirit bears witness to the truth of their testimony.
PRAYER: - I thank You, Lord Jesus, that You so plainly, unmistakably, and often manifested Yourself to Your Apostles as the risen Conqueror of sin, death, and the devil, so that their testimony of Your resurrection is true beyond all doubt. Grant me, I beseech You, Your Holy Spirit, that by such testimony He may make me so certain of Your salutary (blessed) resurrection that in life and death I may firmly found my faith upon it. Amen.
